BioGem Express AG has partnered with Swisspower Green Gas AG for the supply of Danish biogas

Starting in 2023 and for a duration of 5 years, BioGem Express (bGX) will supply Swisspower Green Gas with 60 GWh/year of Danish biogas, which corresponds to the average annual consumption of about 3,000 households.

BioGem Express will ensure the mass-balance transport of the gas to the Trading Hub Europe (THE) in Germany on behalf of Swisspower Green Gas AG.

“Switzerland is dependent on having more renewable gas available as quickly as possible. This is the only way we can secure the energy supply in the future – without having to resort to fossil fuels” Thomas Peyer, CEO Swisspower Green Gas AG

BioGem Express together with its sister companies in Denmark is responsible for the construction and operation of the plant Foersom Bioenergi ApS in the Western Coastal Denmark.

Foersom Bioenergi is built as a state-of-the-art biogas plant that meets the highest standards of biomethane production in terms of quality and CO2 reduction potential, working in close cooperation with surrounding farmers who provide substrates and in return receive natural fertilisers tailored to their needs.

After just under a year of construction, the target is to feed in the first m3 of biomethane into the grid before the end of this year.

EU biomethane production potential for 2040 could cover 30% of its current gas demand

Europe-27 together with the UK, Norway and Switzerland, have the potential to annually produce 111 bcm (~1100TWh/y) of biomethane by 2040 – equivalent to
