Introduction to Next Week’s Microconference Round Table

Thank you for your future participation in our Microconference Round Table next week. For those who will be attending for the first time: this is an open‑discussion format where every participant is invited to contribute. Our goal is to create a vivid, interactive exchange that naturally extends over the aperitif and dinner.

We start from a widely shared assumption: biomethane demand is poised to surge. Across sectors—including aviation, maritime transport, heavy‑duty trucking, industry, and heating—biomethane is gaining strategic importance, supported by regulatory frameworks such as: RED Transport Fuels II & III, FuelEU Maritime, ETS 1 & 2, National heating blending obligations.

Biomethane is increasingly seen as a key transitional pathway toward hydrogen and RFNBOs. Yet the central question remains: Will biomethane be available at the scale required to meet future demand?

Round Table Theme:

What are the main bottlenecks to scaling up green gas production?
How can downstream partners across the value chain contribute to accelerating its development?

Discussion Format:

Producers will briefly introduce their company (in under one minute) and share their perspective on the theme.

All other participants will then be invited to contribute to share their views, challenges, and proposed solutions.

    Hartelijk dank voor uw aanmelding voor onze rondetafelconferentie van volgende week. Voor degenen die voor het eerst aanwezig zullen zijn: dit is een open discussieformaat waarbij elke deelnemer wordt uitgenodigd om het woord te nemen en een bijdrage te leveren. Ons doel is een levendig, interactief gesprek te hebben dat doorloopt tijdens het aperitief en het diner.

    We gaan uit van een algemene aanname: de vraag naar biomethaan gaat sterk toe nemen. In verschillende sectoren – waaronder de luchtvaart, het zeevervoer, het zware vrachtvervoer, de industrie en verwarming – wint biomethaan aan strategisch belang, ondersteund door regelgevingskaders zoals: RED Transport Fuels II & III, FuelEU Maritime, ETS 1 & 2 en nationale bijmengverplichtingen voor verwarming.

    Biomethaan wordt ook gezien als een overgangstraject naar waterstof en RFNBOs. Toch blijft een vraag: zal er voldoende biomethaan beschikbaar zijn om aan de vraag te voldoen?

    Thema van de rondetafel:

    Wat zijn de knelpunten voor het opschalen van de productie van Green Gas?
    Hoe kunnen downstream-partners in de waardeketen helpen om te versnellen?

    Om de discussie te openen :

    Producenten zullen hun bedrijf kort voorstellen (in minder dan een minuut) en hun visie op het thema delen.
    Alle andere deelnemers worden vervolgens uitgenodigd om hun mening, uitdagingen en voorstellen te delen.
